Curriculum Vitae/Professional Experience

Darcy grew up in the small town of Kirkland Lake in Northeastern Ontario, Canada .

Through various twists of fate, career decisions, and hard work, he now calls his home Santa Ana in Orange County, California.

He maintained a very busy lifestyle in high school and graduated with several honors, including class Valedictorian, from Kirkland Lake Collegiate and Vocational Institute (KLCVI) in 1992.  He also participated in many sports, concentrating most of his energy on hockey [playing for the Legion 87's (Kirkland Bombers) AAA Midget Hockey Team] and on volleyball (playing for the KLCVI Volleyball Team), serving as alternate captain on both teams.

He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Waterloo, in Waterloo, Ontario where he acquired a Bachelor of Science Degree and a taste for Optometry.  After three years at UW, he was accepted into Indiana's School of Optometry, Class of 1999.

Ranked number 3 out of 16 Optometry Schools in the U.S., Indiana University (I.U.) proved to be the perfect place for Darcy.  He found his calling in the profession of Optometry.  During his time at I.U., he was an Associate Instructor for a first year Optometric Neuro-Anatomy Lab, a 2nd year Optometric Diagnostics class, and an Optometric Technician Diagnostics class, in addition to working part time as a computer consultant and library attendant.  As well, he was able to play competitive hockey again by joining the Indiana University Hoosiers Hockey Club.  The Hoosiers Hockey Club won two Midwestern Collegiate Hockey League division titles and were Runners-up and 5th in the national American Collegiate Hockey League tournaments during the two years that Darcy played.  Darcy's ability to spin several plates at one time has allowed him to adjust very easily to, and compliment, Dr. Berke's style of practice and entrepreneurial zest.

He now spends his time working at the SVC in Santa Ana.  He works out on a regular basis, plays recreational hockey, and serves as webmaster this website.
